It is easy to think, before these troubling times come, that we are already strong enough to withstand. Maybe you are, but do we really know?
It doesn’t take a lot to be evil. It takes weakness.
That is why it is important to be humble and acknowledge that we have faults and weaknesses.
So humility is important to develop. It is important to be humble about what we can and cannot do. It is also important to be humble regarding what we believe; if we have a bad opinion, we need to be humble enough to recognize that when we get better information and change our opinion.
But most of all, humility and charity allow God to take our weaknesses and cover them with His strength.
Thus, humility is not so important for how it removes hindrances to our progress, though it is important for that; it is most important because it gives us access to the power of Heaven, and we can only survive with Heaven’s help.
Be thou humble, and the Lord thy God shall lead thee by the hand, and give thee answer to thy prayers.
